Bethanny's Saxophone

Bethanny told me about a time she wanted to play the saxophone, but was discouraged to do so because women didn't play the saxophone. She was told that only men play this instrument. It is so crazy that these ideas ever existed. That is what many of my still life paintings are about - these limitations placed on women and that even though we have come a long way, comments like this still exist. Gender stereotypes still linger.
