A Greenhouse Commission

I recently completed a special commission. The project: three wooden shelves that would live inside a greenhouse, surrounded by greenery and sunlight. I knew right away that I wanted to celebrate the spirit of that space with color and life.
Each shelf became its own canvas. I painted intuitively, letting the brush guide me as I brought bold, bright flowers to life. I focused on creating a sense of movement—placing stems, leaves, and petals in a way that encourages the eye to travel up and down.
To finish each piece, I outlined the flowers and leaves to add a decorative touch.
I'm really happy with how everything turned out—and even more thrilled that the person I created this for loves it too. There’s something especially rewarding about making functional art that lives in a space where life is growing. Knowing these shelves will hold real plants and be part of someone’s daily joy is the best kind of feeling.
